We are building a long-term rescue and sanctuary for street dogs, cats, cows and other animals who are injured, abandoned, disabled, elderly, dependent or otherwise unable to survive safely on the streets.
Current status: Public charitable trust registration and the legal process for acquiring approximately two acres of suitable land are underway.

The reason this sanctuary exists.
George was a German Shepherd who shared fourteen years of companionship, loyalty and trust. His life shaped a simple idea: animals who depend on people deserve safety, dignity and care for as long as they need it.
GeorgeHurst Animal Sanctuary is being created in his memory, with the aim of turning that bond into permanent protection for vulnerable animals in India.

Our purpose
For animals who cannot simply be returned to the street
India's community animals face traffic injury, disease, abandonment, disability, abuse, hunger and old age. Our focus is not only rescue. It is creating a safe destination for animals whose condition means they need longer-term or lifelong care.
What we will do
Rescue, treatment, recovery and sanctuary
The sanctuary is planned around practical animal-welfare needs in India, with veterinary partnerships and local rescue networks rather than unnecessary duplication of services.

Medical Care
Arrange veterinary assessment, emergency care, surgery, medicines, vaccination, deworming, diagnostics and follow-up treatment through qualified professionals.

Recovery & Rehabilitation
Provide secure recovery areas, nutrition, medication and physical rehabilitation while an animal heals or adapts to disability.

Lifelong Sanctuary
Give permanent care to animals who cannot safely return to the street because of disability, age, dependency or chronic vulnerability.

Feeding & Water
Support community-animal feeding and water points where this improves welfare and complements sterilisation, vaccination and local monitoring.

Sterilisation & Vaccination
Work with authorised veterinary and animal-welfare partners on lawful ABC/sterilisation, rabies vaccination and preventative care programmes.

Cows & Other Animals
Where facilities and expertise allow, assist cows and other vulnerable animals rather than restricting the sanctuary only to dogs and cats.

Farming & Fodder
Maintain genuine agricultural use on sanctuary land, including suitable crops, fodder, plantation and green areas supporting animals and sustainable land management.

Local Partnerships
Collaborate with vets, feeders, rescuers, foster carers, NGOs, local authorities and animal-welfare organisations to build a practical referral network.
The land project
Approximately two acres for a permanent sanctuary
We are progressing the legal and regulatory steps required to acquire suitable land in India. The intention is to combine animal-welfare use with genuine agricultural use rather than convert an entire rural property into built infrastructure.
- Secure perimeter and controlled entry for animal safety.
- Separate recovery, quarantine and lifelong-care areas.
- Shade, trees, open runs, water points and natural ground.
- Small veterinary/first-aid and medicine-management area.
- Food preparation, feed storage and staff/volunteer support space.
- Agricultural and plantation areas, including fodder or suitable crops.
- Water harvesting, drainage, composting and responsible waste handling.
Roadmap
Building it in the right order
We intend to document progress openly from legal formation through to the first animals entering the sanctuary.

Register the Maharashtra public charitable trust and establish governance.

Identify suitable agricultural land and obtain any permissions required for lawful purchase and use.

Survey, fencing, water, access, animal zones, farming areas and low-impact infrastructure.

Formalise local veterinary, sterilisation and emergency-treatment partnerships.

Begin phased intake with capacity limits, welfare standards and proper records.

We are not enabling online donations on this site at this stage. Donation and volunteering information will be published once the relevant trust, banking, tax and—where applicable—foreign-contribution requirements are in place.

Public charitable purpose
The proposed trust objects focus on animal rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, sanctuary, feeding, sterilisation, vaccination, education and land/infrastructure necessary for those purposes.
Protected assets
Sanctuary land and major assets are intended to remain dedicated to charitable animal-welfare purposes, subject to the trust deed and applicable Charity Commissioner controls.
Records & accountability
Once operational, the sanctuary will maintain animal records, veterinary records, expenditure records and statutory accounts appropriate to its legal obligations.
